Rows are ordered by how many people work in the occupation, not by pay.

Every row also carries a rated education requirement from O*NET Database 31.0 (CC BY 4.0, retrieved 2026-09-15). O*NET rates what the job requires — it is not a survey of what the people now doing the job studied.

BLS OES May 2025 · retrieved 2026-09-15

The figure in brackets after each employment count is the BLS relative standard error for that estimate: a measure of how reliable it is. Our OES data carries this measure for two figures only — national employment and the mean wage — so the median and the middle-50% figures in this table have none, and the state-level relative standard errors are not downloaded.

This is BLS's own definition: “The relative standard error (RSE) is a measure of the reliability of a survey statistic. The smaller the relative standard error, the more precise the estimate.”
